CAII seminar on industrial high-quality datasets; Lingbang among first pilots
To carry out the State Council’s “AI +” action and speed up high-quality industrial datasets—the data base for industrial AI—the China Academy of Industrial Internet (CAII), with the Chaoyang Park administrative committee of Zhongguancun, held a seminar on 26 September. Zhang Jianlun, director of the Digital Economy Promotion Division at the IT Development Department of MIIT, and Tian Chuan, Party secretary and vice president of CAII, addressed the meeting. Vice president Wen Bin also attended.
Tian said high-quality industrial datasets are a cornerstone for “AI +” industrial scenes and for AI-enabled new industrialization. Under the IT Development Department, CAII has already produced early research and practice. Next it will work with partners across industry, academia and users on scenes, technology, standards and ecosystem—so the datasets produce results that can be seen.
Keynotes included Li Dongni, vice dean of the School of Computer Science at Beijing Institute of Technology, on a supply-chain-resilience vertical model and its datasets; and Xu Kefu, distinguished researcher at Peking University’s National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, on circulation of industrial datasets and trusted data spaces. CAII presented “Thoughts on building industrial high-quality datasets,” summarizing work done with academia and industry, a research report, current gaps, and a “fit-to-need, layered, outcome-first” path. It proposed a “four ones” plus “four thousands” program: one unified infrastructure, one key-technology and tool chain, one industrial trusted data space, one industry data-standard system; plus projects for thousands of cases, knowledge items, products and scene models.
CAII then launched a series of actions with ecosystem partners—infrastructure, standards, key technology, case collection and industry cultivation. On infrastructure, CAII, Peking University, China Unicom Data Intelligence and Beijing Orient National Communication held a ceremony for a trusted data space. The Industrial High-Quality Dataset Special Committee of the China Industrial Big Data Innovation and Development Alliance was founded and issued an initiative. For industry pilots, CAII, on the National Industrial Internet Big Data Center, joined Hisense, PipeChina, China Mobile Liaoning, Ansteel Digital, CAERI, CEPRI, Haitian Ruisheng, Global Tone Communication, Zhejiang Wuwen Zhixing, Beijing Lingbang Intelligent Equipment and others to run first trials in key sectors and build reference cases.
Sector talks followed: Jiang Hui of PipeChina’s digital arm on oil-and-gas storage and transport datasets; Pan Deng of China Unicom Data Intelligence on AI data engineering for new industrialization; Wang Junyue of Hisense on closing the loop from data islands to business in appliances; and Fu Deyi of CEPRI on a high-quality dataset for large wind-turbine drivetrain tests and digital twins.
More than 200 people from over 110 organizations attended—universities including Peking University, BIT, BUPT, USTB, Northeastern, NJUST and Xidian, and enterprises including PipeChina, State Grid, Hisense, the three telecom operators, CCIC, CAERI, CCTEG, Baidu, Fourth Paradigm, Orient National Communication and RootCloud. The seminar looked at the state of industrial datasets, the hard problems, and the path through the 15th Five-Year Plan’s digital and intelligent upgrade. Source: China Academy of Industrial Internet.
